Rainbow Dance II offer students age 11 and up the
opportunity to experience Dance Company training and participate in
performances throughout the year.

WINTER SESSION TEEN/ADULT HIP HOP &
AFRICAN DANCE
STARTS WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 23 @ 4:00 PM
Class Descriptions . Creative Dance Plus:An extension of Creative Dance for the
slightly older child (5-7), adds to the creative exploration with the teaching
of simple shapes, steps and basic dance moves.Energetic, popular music adds to the fun.
Hip Hop:Hip Hop is today’s jazz dance featuring
energetic and rhythmic dance steps.Students will learn age-appropriate physical skills through warm-ups,
stretching and dance routines.Both
well-known popular dance steps and new choreography will be taught.In addition, students will have the
opportunity to create their own movement sequences individually and in
groups.More advanced levels will begin
to learn break dance.
Boys’ Hip Hop:A Hip Hop class especially for boys taught by
a male dance instructor from Rainbow Dance Theatre.The class will emphasize the athleticism of
Hip Hop Dance including teaching many of today’s popular Break Dance moves.The Six-step, Coffee Grinder, Back Spins and
the Worm are just some of the steps which will be taught.
West African Dance:An exhilarating full-bodied style of dance
from the West Coast of Africa, West African Dance teaches coordination and
rhythm while emphasizing bringing the whole body into harmony.Students will learn dance steps, polyrhythmic coordination and dances from the villages of West Africa.
Rainbow Dance II:For the more experienced dance
student, RDII will be a rehearsal class, challenging the student to learn
dances in Hip Hop West African and Modern Dance.The fast pace of the rehearsal class will
challenge the students to learn and retain dance steps, polish their technical
execution, and prepare for performances which will take place throughout the
year.Selected students may perform in a
Rainbow Dance Theatre in-the-schools performance or concert during the 2007-08
season.
